The Buzz is Here. No, not Dave Baker.

Not sure how many of you live in Lexington, but the buzz around town is awesome. Cat Scratches has an update of just how crazy its getting over at Memorial with staff preparing for the titanic tilt between the #4 and #5 seeds in the NIT. You might not think it means much to anyone, but you are wrong--dead wrong.
I just got done running an errand downstairs where the Joe Craft Center connects with Memorial Coliseum, and let me tell you that there is a noticeable buzz around the arena. People are running around scrambling trying to get the place ready for tonight.

To say it’s been busy around these parts the last few days is an understatement. It’s been a zoo. It’s not every day that we host the men over here at Memorial Coliseum – in fact, it’s the first time the men have played since 1976.

One question: Don't these same people have to get Memorial ready for basketball twenty(ish) times a year? Basketball is basketball, no?

  1. I'm sure the standard for UK Men's basketball is much different than for the women's. Not trying to be disrespectful, but I would imagine that certain things slide by for a UK women's game that will not be acceptable at a UK men's game.

  2. Im just wondering how much of this "excitement" and "buzzing" is falling on deaf ears. Obviously the University has to hype the game, but this much?

Just having a glass half full type of day. I've been pumped too many times this year just to be let down.

  3. And by glass half full, I mean glass half empty. See what I mean?

  4. Don't know if anyone has read the latest Seth Davis article. Very interesting. The rest of the article is OK, but the meat and potatoes are in the 6th paragraph. Enjoy.............

  5. Interesting that Davis says the concern is that if Gillispie is back there will be a lot that leave. I would have thought the opposite. Sure, we may have some transfer, but probably some that need to transfer. The real question is whether meeks and pPat are MORE likely to go pro if Gillispie stays or goes. I would have thought Ppat and Meeks would not want to go through another coaching change, and would be more likely to leave if BCG leaves.

    Interesting..

  6. Davis being Davis. He is and will always be a hater. During halftime of one of our last CBS games, he came out and said something rediculous about Gillispie actually persuing the OK St. job last offseason.

Whatever the decision is needs to be in the interest of whatever brings Pat/Jodie back next year. Nobody wants the patients to run the asylum, but I'd also rather not go through what Indiana went through this year.
