At least one of the guys below will be at UK next year

OR maybe at least one these guys will not be at UK next year. I'm not for sure on any of this, but it sure got you giddy didn't it? This color of blue sure does look good on Billy D, don't it? Pete Kerasotis of Florida Today wonders the same thing as well. Just two years ago, Billy D. was the talk of the basketball world. Everyone wanted a piece. Now? Possibly not so much. Unbelievably, some Florida Gator fans are starting to question the basketball program and its direction. Interesting. I think I can come up with a solution for all of this.
I know UF wants us to believe that no one Gator sport reigns above the other, but we all know better. We all know football is No.1, and there's certainly no shame in that. But at Kentucky, they don't even try to pretend that anything is even so much as equal to basketball.

Florida can't match Kentucky's fan interest in basketball. Few schools can. The lack of UF fan support at the recent SEC Tournament in Tampa was pitiful. Not so with Kentucky fans.

Kentucky is an elite job.

  1. Hasn't Billy D. lost his luster? As you say, he was on top of the basketball world 2 years ago. However, since then he has turned us down, went to work for the Magic, then quit the Magic, and hasn't been to the NCAA's since. Maybe that is his punishment from thumbing his nose at the UK basketball karma.

Could he have done a better job than Billy G.? I'd say he could have handled the "outside" stuff better, and I would imagine he would have gotten us to the tournament this year, but doesn't his recent (and not so recent) history at UF prove that he really isn't UK material?

  2. I agree. While I think BD would have done a better job than BCG, he has lost some of his luster. He was the hottet thing going 2 years ago. 2 years later and 2 straight NIT appearances seems to have dulled the finish a little bit. I still think we need a HUGE name at Kentucky to get things back on track.

  3. And before the back-to-back, many Florida fans were calling for his job just for the underachieving with McDonalds All-Americans. While Billy Clyde might not be the public salesman Donovan is, his rise up the coaching ranks happened in about half the time of Billy D.
