... in 1972, Pat Riley was a key contributor in the Los Angeles Lakers first ever title run, helping them squeak past the New York Knicks in overtime 116-111. The win pushed L.A. to a 3-1 NBA Finals advantage. Two nights later, Riley along with legends/teammates Jerry West and Wilt Chamberlain, blitzed the Knicks to get their first ever crown. Riley averaged seven points off the bench for the season and for the Championship series.
