July 17th: On this date...
... in 2008, ya boy Billy Clyde announced at a press conference that he and the University were on the verge of signing a formal contract. He said a pair of meetings between President Lee Todd and AD Mitch Barnhardt has ironed everything out and the University would have a contract on his desk within days. Hindsight lets us know the man pictured above had no intentions of ever signing a formal contract, leaving him some wiggle room with the Memorandum of Understanding.
"It hasn't been a big deal to me since day one," Gillispie said. "I don't think it's been that big a deal, but they're getting me a contract here in the next few days that has the changes that we discussed, and I don't foresee it being any kind of problem."
Of course not. Everything in this quote is all relative, depending on which end you're standing. See you in court!
