Derrick Jasper in Attendance for Meeks' Pro Debut

The Las Vegas Sun has a nice feature on Jodie and how his three years in Lexington are making the transition to the NBA easier than your average NBA rookie. The Bucks are also hoping his experience will help in the development of first-round draftee Brandon Jennings.

Meeks' former teammate Derrick Jasper was also in attendance for Game 1. It's good to hear from Jasper as he probably derserves an apology from the majority of Kentucky's fan base. I know I was critical of him leaving for my own selfish reasons. Looking back on it, everyone now has an idea of his thinking process whenever deciding to leave the Cats last year.

Here are a few comments from Jasper about Jodie's decision:

"I was surprised with his decision to leave UK at first, especially with how talented of a team they have returning," Jasper said. "It would have definitely been a tough decision, with all that is at stake, but Jodie had one of the best years in Kentucky history and has worked extremely hard to overcome injuries and coaching changes throughout his years at UK. I think he got what he deserved."....."Playing at Kentucky, you definitely have all the attention you can handle since the Wildcats are basically treated like an NBA team anyway. But Jodie is so physically and mentally tough, that he'll be able to handle leaving college early."

We wish Derrick well this season at UNLV.
