... in 1969, Joe B. Hall accepted the head coaching position with the St. Louis Billikens. One week later, he returned to Kentucky after school officials promised to put him at the top of the list when Adolph Rupp retired. Hall felt as though he wasn't getting any love from UK, so he forced their hand. Known as one of the nations top recruiters, Joe B. knew he had all the leverage in the world when negotiating with one of the nation's top programs. Rupp was forced out just three years later in 1972, and Joe B. Hall was named the leader of the men's basketball program.
